David Lingmerth wins Web.com Tour event

Yesterday Swedens’s David Lingmerth secured his first professional win. He shot 4-under and came from behind to win the Web.com Tour’s Neediest Kids Championship. The win gains him PGA Tour membership for next year.

“It feels fantastic, I’ve been working my whole life for an opportunity to play with the big boys. This is huge because I’ve been close a few times. It took me a little while, but this feels great.”

“I was really calm all day, you’ve really got to golf your ball out here. The key ingredient this week was that I finally got to make some putts. I knew I wasn’t putting up

to my ability this year and I finally found a feeling that I like. I was actually fist-pumping in the car coming over this morning,” he said. “I knew it was going to be lousy weather. This is a good day in Sweden.”

Congratulation Team Europe

With European golf and Poulter fans alike still celebrating one of the greatest ever sporting comebacks on Sunday, we look at what Ian has been up to since, what Ian is calling, the highlight of his golfing career.

On Monday evening Ian appeared on Piers Morgan with Justin Rose and Graeme McDowell to talk about their Ryder Cup victory.

Yesterday morning Joe Kernen interviewed Ian on CNBC’s Squawkbox - Ian spoke about his historic weekend at Medinah and a little bit about IJP Design. When asked “What is it about the Ryder Cup?”  Ian replied “I just love it. It’s the purest form of golf. No money involved. This is pure pride and passion” Then when asked about his clothing line “It’s a young business,  I’ve had it five and a half years. I’ve been passionate about my clothes and wanting to look good on the golf course. We are doing very well and hopefully we’ll grow our small business to a big business”

The 3rd Dreamflight golf day took place at Woburn Golf Club last week.

Dreamflight is a registered UK charity that changes the lives of seriously ill and disabled children by taking them to Florida for a once in a lifetime trip. Ian Poulter has supported the charity for the last few years and has attended the Dreamflight golf day for the last three years.

On one of the few sunny days so far this year, nearly 30 teams entered, with all entry proceeds going to the charity.

After registration, where player collected their IJP Design t-shirts and PR Golf online goody bags, Ian Poulter auctioned off the chance for a team to play the first 9 holes with him and raised £2,250 for the charity.

Ian Poulter Invitational 2012

Ian Poulter Invitational

This week Ian Poulter welcomed 100 rising junior stars from across the UK and around the world, to play on the challenging Marquess Course at Woburn Golf Club for the 7th Ian Poulter Invitational.

On one of the hottest days of the year so far we saw players, all of which were under 18 years of age on the 1st January 2012 with a maximum 16 handicap to qualify, have rare one-on-one time with Ian as he toured the course to give hands-on professional guidance to each player, as well as top tips and practical advice during the afternoon’s ‘IJP Clinic’.

Ian, who has been the International Touring Pro at Woburn for over nine years, sees the event as a chance to encourage the next generation of golfers and is passionate about giving them the opportunity to play on a championship course under championship conditions.

Ian states, “It’s always such a special day to be able to get some of the best junior golfing talent together and give them an opportunity I never had. I love being out on the course with the kids, being able to chat with them and seeing their genuine enthusiasm for the game. It’s a great experience for the juniors, a really refreshing day for me and one I look forward to every year.”

Each player had their photograph taken with Ian and then signed as a personal memento of their day, as well as receiving a fabulous goody bag, including an item from the IJP Design clothing range, Ian Poulter Invitational accessories specially created for the day by PRGolf and a pair of Oakley sunglasses.

Sophie Madden from West Essex Golf Club won the 1st prize with a top Gross score of 74. Jousha Pearson from John O’Gaunt had the best Nett score of Gross 82/Nett 72, who both won a set of Cobra irons.

There were also prizes for the longest drive, won by Gabriella Cowley from West Essex Golf Club. Nearest to pin went to Aiden Healey from Oulton Hall Golf Club.

Ian also selected the best dressed and the best hair for the day which went to James Greatbanks and Oliver Cribb respectively.

Ian played a shot to beat in Woburn Golf Club’s brand new Performance Centre, which opened 17th April and boasts the latest GC2 launch monitor and simulator technology providing custom fitting, ball fitting, nearest the pin/longest drive challenges, practice option and the chance to play one of 37 top class golf courses in simulator mode and KC golf show provided a trick shot show.

This year the charity associated with the event is Dreamflight. Ian is a huge supporter of Dreamflight whose purpose is to send seriously ill children on the holiday of a lifetime.  http://www.dreamflight.org
